The pandemic is not over, and we still need to be cautious when venturing out into the world. This forces us to make the most of our mealtimes at home whether you are preparing a braai, entertaining friends, or Christmas lunch, décor helps to create a fun and festive atmosphere.
These are a few of our favourite colour schemes for your dining table.
**Shining stars with a warm glow**
“Ever since I can remember, my Mom and I have decorated the Christmas table with tiny gold stars. Tea light candles are dotted around the table which gives the stars a magical glow. When the eventual clean-up begins, we carefully pack each tiny gold star back into its small container – safely stored away for the next, magical, Christmas table”. – Mikayla Mortel-Brink, Agent at our City Bowl office
**Festive red accents**
For those celebrating Christmas or if you just love red, adding a touch to your home for your dinner party makes the muted tones pop. Making your home a happy and bright place for your loved ones. Red napkins, candles, or flowers can be the feature decoration on the table when paired with lighter colours or deep green tones.
**Dark mode with a bit of sparkle**
For the edgy folks among us, you would prefer using non-traditional colours over the festive season. Black table settings and decorations with brass or gold accents have a luxurious feel. It elevates a lunch or dinner party and is perfect for a New Year's Eve theme too.
**A touch of tangerine**
Late morning brunches should be filled with sunshine and what a better way to make your home sunny and bright than to have an orange theme. Mix the greens, whites, and neutral browns to create the country living ambience in your home. Seasonal fruit as decorations not only gives an added pop of colour, the edible ornaments are eco-friendly decorations and make for good snacks too.
No matter how you decide to decorate your home for your next gathering makes sure to have fun.
