Entertaining over the long weekend

We’ve all been looking forward to Easter, as it is the perfectly timed break for all not just those celebrating. You will inevitably be hosting lunches, braais, and just general get-togethers. After the delicious food has been enjoyed, how do you keep your guests entertained? Don’t fret we’ve come up with a few ideas to help make your time with friends and family fun.

Storytime

If you have kids at your home, an easy way to calm the troop down after lunch is to have them huddle around you and tell them a story. There are many books featuring rabbits as the main character and you're sure to find them at your local book store.

Easter egg hunt

Doing an Easter egg hunt is a great way to get the entire family involved. The adults in the group can do a scavenger hunt, leaving notes leading to each egg. The treasure chest or basket could have a large chocolate bunny as the victory prize.

Art play and games

A fun activity to do is use food colouring to paint white easter eggs. The kids get to enjoy some sensory play which is always great for development. Physical activity could be fun too, maybe a bunny hop race with a pillowcase or potato sack.

Giving back

A great way to spend this weekend is by giving back. You can get in touch with soup kitchens and homeless shelters to find out how you can help, or spend some time cleaning up your community over the weekend. You may even donate easter eggs to children's homes.

Movie night

Late afternoon on Saturday or Sunday watch a bunny-themed movie with your loved ones. Cuddle up around the TV and relax while enjoying your Easter egg snacks.

Whatever you get up to, we hope you have a safe and joyous Easter.
