With the seasons changing, you may want the décor of your home to reflect this. While a coat of paint may perhaps be too permanent and not necessarily cost effective, there is an easier way to reflect this through the colour scheme of your home.
CEO of Greeff Christie’s International Real Estate Mike Greeff shares his thoughts, “The design and décor of your property will always be relevant and will often reflect a part of your unique style and personality. As the seasons change, one clever way of staying relevant is through your home. Implement the following tips and update your home to reflect beautiful autumnal colours for the upcoming season.”
Inspirational colours include:
Rust
Reflecting themes of warmth and a seasonal change, rust as an inspiration for décor will often be accompanied by shades of orange, red and brown. This can be cleverly integrated through the use of winter rugs (which may even contain all of the above-mentioned colours) and complimentary items such as throws, scatter cushions and candles will offer the perfect accompaniment to rust and should be relatively easy to find, no matter which store you choose to shop from.
Maroon
Another colour, suited to the changing season is that of a shade of maroon. The strength of the colour maroon can be used for feature wall, curtains, cushions and candles. The colour is deep, rich and distinctive. Maroon pairs well with navy blue and yellow but also works wonderfully well with neutral colours like black, white, grey and khaki. The decorator’s trick to pairing maroon is to juxtapose it with grounding colours or use brighter colours with it to add bursts of colour.
Green
While green might not seem like the first choice for this season it comes highly recommended by interior designers. Green is extremely versatile and depending on the shade can be paired with greys, blues, yellows and oranges. Green has traditionally been associated with safety, nature, tranquillity and has also been known to improve reading ability. So, it may be the perfect choice for a study room or zen space. Green is one of the better colour choices for the bedroom as it has cool and warm attributes with the softer shades encouraging relaxation.
